This Saturday, April 18th, The Americana at Brand will become home of the European style Farmer's Market! A fantastic addition.

Every Saturday from 10a.m. to 2p.m. more than 30 vendors will line Caruso Avenue stretching from Brand Blvd. to the park offering a bountiful array of locally grown and produced delicacies. Shoppers will stroll among the charming and cheerful stalls displaying an enticing selection of tempting sweets, such as unusual preserves honeys, and savories, with flavorful olives and nuts, as well as authentic crusty European breads and artisan cheeses, a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers, seafood and wines.

125,000 people wanted to be a part of opening day at TAAB as they arrived in droves to finally see what all the media coverage has been heralding! And they were not disappointed!

And the folks just kept on coming as the Glendale authorities reported 475,000 people came to play and shop over the weekend. The stores were packed as well as the restaurants -- there was a three hour wait at the Cheesecake Factory!

According to the Glendale News Press, traffic on the streets moved smoothly. TAAB and the Glendale police were completely prepared making sure no nasty backups occurred.

Surprisingly, TAAB has turned Glendale into a mini Manhattan as it was also reported that many people walked!

It's no wonder this sushi bar is one of the most popular places to eat in Southern California. Jewel City Diner Redux

Normally a remake would make Angelenos groan, but not this one! Lines were out the door this weekend at the new Jewel City Diner to get a taste of TAAB's recreation of a Glendale fav! With its retro finishings, JCD is the perfect place to grab a fun, casual meal. Not in the mood for a burger and fries? Not to worry, the diner has a wonderful selection of salads and other light treats.

The original Jewel City Diner opened it's doors back in the early 1900s, so it's no surprise that Rick Caruso would want to bring back a touch of history to TAAB. Below is a pic of the original JCD.

Fun fact: In 1910, Glendale was nicknamed the Jewel City.

Tuxedos and Champagne!

The gala was in full swing last nite and everyone was dressed to the 9s! Thru a vast sea of black and white tuxedos, were flashes of color from all the gorgeous red carpet dresses. The champagne flowed as everyone mingled around the fairy tale like plaza. TAAB shined last nite like never before as the people made it come to life!

Entertainment at last nite's affair was MC'd by the hilarious Jay Leno and included songsters Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, The Four Tops and The Temptations. It was a nite to remember!

The wait is over! At 10am this morning, TAAB stores opened their doors for the hundreds of people waiting to be the first to visit. The excitement was in the air as the Trolley officially broke through the ribbon on it's first trip around the property at the opening ceremony this morning. With the first ride on the Trolley, Rick Caruso, developer of this amazing destination and the Mayor of Glendale were there to celebrate the occasion!

Grand Lobby Is The Gateway to TAAB!

It feels like checking into a five star hotel... but it's the Grand Lobby which is the gateway from the parking lot to The Americana at Brand! As you whisk into the stylishly decorated Grand Lobby, you will be greeted by the concierge at the large marble desk. Need a moment to relax from shopping and have a cool drink? Just mosey on into the Lobby, have a seat and listen to the piano play a tune.

You won't be able to take your eyes off of the gorgeous art deco era chandelier. Over 14 feet long, the crystal petals of light make the Grand Lobby shine! Not to mention the majestic murals depicting California.

Ding, ding, ding went the trolley, as it was unveiled for the first time today at TAAB! Designed by George McGinnis (below, left), a long time Disney Imagineer, the trolley will entice both kids and adults. It cheerily chugs around the entire center and it's sure to stop traffic along Brand Boulevard. Because it's two cars long everyone will have a chance to ride! See you there!

Whether you live there or just visiting, the concierge team at TAAB is there to take care of you. You can find them at their post in the Grand Lobby ready to help you with anything including -- tee times, restaurant reservations, travel arrangements, personal shopping, personal fitness trainer, concert and theme park tickets and not to mention having a package shipped or messengered... and that's just for the visitors.

For residents -- they only need to pick up the phone and almost any request will be done on the fly. It's no wonder The Grove's concierge team was named best in the nation by the Wall Street Journal. However, The Grove better watch out, because TAAB could very well steal the title next year!

Barneys New York Co-Op Takes A Second Home In Los Angeles

Barneys New York gets casual with its slick and hip spin off -- The Co-Op. They define themselves as a store that has no age discrimination and that everyone has the right to dress funky and fierce. The Grove is the home of the first Barneys New York Co-Op, so it seems a very comfortable fit for them to open their second store in L.A. at The Americana at Brand. Now you can dress Uptown even when you're in California!

Eat your heart out Sin City... there's a new fountain in town! Last night the fountain danced for the first time and it was magical. But not to be left out, the groovin' lighted Spire overlooking TAAB got in on the action, as its lights flashed in sync with the watery dance.

As reported in an earlier post, the fountain was imagined by Wet Design, the folks that created the Bellagio fountain in Vegas.

With the completion date right around the corner, TAAB is adding the finishing touches including landscaping and waterfalls. Over 500 trees (including the pink flowering ones) will lend shade and natural beauty to this outdoor wonderland. Thousands of roses (12 different varieties) and many other blooming flowers will also add even more color and atmosphere.

It is definitely a place to get together with friends and family and hang out.

Simply flawless. Walking into Pacific Theatres lobby is like taking a step back in time. It's super glam! The dome ceiling is still waiting for the finishing touches, but it seems to be almost perfect.

TAAB is going to be the place to be on date night with all the wonderful eateries, this state of the art 18-screen cinema and a romantic stroll through "The Green."
